We're learning that white cabinets, walls, and toilets are easy targets for children with natural artistic flare.
We're learning that the "terrible two's" can begin early and include back arches, wailing, excessive boogers, and the fancy leg work from Flashdance.
We're learning that we shouldn't expect our toddlers to show everyone their belly button unless we are willing to show everyone ours too.
We're learning that getting two toddlers to play quietly together is very rare. When it occurs we make sure to take a picture and then tip toe away quietly.
We're learning that toots on the potty are a great start, and should be rewarded with claps and words of encouragement.
We're learning that just because your normally well-behaved toddlers were being loud during a Sacrament Meeting talk on helping your children to be reverent, doesn't mean you are a failure and that the talk was being solely directed at you......right?
But most of all.....

It's amazing how many new things are learned in a few months. My kids were acting out during Brother Farar's talk too. I thought that they were the only ones, but I guess not. Makes me feel better to know that I'm not alone. Your girls are darling!
Great pictures! And yes just about everyone I have talked with says the terrible twos begin well before two. I can't imagine going through it with two at once, good luck!
I love your girls and the fun pics you take of them! They are so pretty! Your parental observations are so funny, especially your Flashdance reference! (:
If parental success depends on one's ability to keep their children reverent during sacrament meeting then I am so screwed. Once someone in front of us turned around and said "I sit in the front so I can actually hear". I was horrified. And mad, because really the kids were being fairly good that day.
And Skyler's terrible two's were not that bad. Three and four has pretty much made me want to shoot myself though. Our pediatrician says that each kid just has a certain amount of tantrums to go through and while many of them use their quota up when they are two, some get started early and some (like Skyler) just wait until you least expect it and think you are totally out of the water.
You are so amazing! I know you probably hear this ALL the time but I don't know how you do it! I love reading your posts too you have the cutest way of saying things, every time!
i like that you are honest about motherhood - that it is hard, but very worth it. I grow tired of reading blogs where they talk about how perfect their lives/husbands/or kids are. I appreciate that it will take hard work, I wouldn't expect it not to.
Boy have we learned all of those things too...But believe it or not, this is actually my favorite age with Cooper so far! They are like sponges! Each day he blows me away with something else he's either learned from me (and i didn't know it) or just a new trick...Being a mommy is hard but so worth it.
Your girls are adorable! We love your little family!
Missy you are so way cute! I love reading your blog, I sit there and think yeah me too. I think that toots on the toilet are GREAT start, that is mostly what we do here at our house! (tatum that is ha ha) Terible twos do START early. My child feels artistic everywhere...my couch the wall, highchair the list goes on!
I love that way you write it is the best!
Such a cute post! Loves it!
You are so funny! Speaking of the reverance sacrament meeting talk I thought that my kids were doing pretty good in that area. After I had finished that thought, I had to sit in between them. I guess we need reminders no matter how old we get!
It's good to know I'm not the only one having issues with keeping the kids quiet during Sacrament:) Better luck this week...hopefully.
Oh this is all making me miss our play dates. :( sniff sniff
