Realizations As Of Late

My children's hair is much more forgiving then I am of my own hair cutting (in)abilities.

Peanut butter play dough is genius, as it provides a fun activity and snack all at the same time. {as long as your child isn't allergic to peanut butter of course}

The girls truly LOVE it when I involve them in my cooking/baking, and it is a great opportunity to have fun together.

Sometimes fake happy smiles look more like angry gremlin smiles.

Jelly shoes are cute on the girls but they probably weren't meant for those with large talons like me-self.

I subconsciously become excited when the IKEA catalog arrives in the mail. I don't plan on spending any money there, but I will be window shopping from the comfort of my bathroom.

Sometimes what starts as helping ends up hurting.

Sit down family dinners should be held even if not everyone can be there. Making it partially candlelit creates some great dinner conversation.

These girls could use a younger sibling.

It's not realistic to arrange my girl's marriages this early, but it's fun to think about anyway.

Two skittles has Brenna doing her business on the "lellow potty" aka little potty instead of in her 16 cent diaper. Yessssss.

I have a feeling that the girls will only become more and more interested in mommy's makeup, jewelry, brassieres, and fancy head bands, so I guess I need to learn to share too.

That is all.

Bedtime Songs Sing-a-long

This is a video of the girls singing bedtime songs last night before bed. For some reason they get really into singing songs at that time, and it's so fun to hear them sing their little hearts out. I decided to make this video into a little sing-a-long, just for you know...fun. Feel free to join in, but I will warn you, Toddler is a very tricky language.

Hooray for my first video creation:)

5 Years Later And...

1.We're traveling by car in order to save money.

I don't really mind road trips as long as they don't go past 6 or 7 hours {and especially if they don't require constantly entertaining kids}. It gives us time to chat and listen to music and just relax a little {OK so that would be me relaxing}.

The drive was fairly quick, minus the Dam traffic...and by that I mean Hoover Dam. I've never gotten too excited about water and concrete before, especially when my bladder is about to explode.

2.We've finally experienced being in a different temple together.
We decided to do temple sealings in the Las Vegas Temple on our anniversary, and it was a really neat experience. It was wonderful to be reminded of all the blessings that come with an eternal marriage, and just to get away from all the cares of the world. Because the couple we asked to take our picture thought we were trying to somehow sabotage them {on temple grounds no less}, we didn't manage to get any good pictures of us next to the temple. So here we are courtesy of my long arm, and there's some temple pieces behind us.

3.We aren't afraid to eat like pigs in front of each other.

The first time Kevin and I ever ate together was as Blimpies, and I remember barely eating two bites of my 6 inch turkey sub. Pathetic, I know...but the modest eating wears off after a while. {just as the passing gas, wearing makeup, worrying about b.o. etc...}Friday night we went to the buffet at our hotel {Sunset Station} and lucky for Kevin it was Seafood Night. I nibbled on some turkey and mashed potatoes while Kevin feasted upon every critter that has ever wriggled in the ocean. I hadn't quite regained my appetite since oral surgery and a bout of the stomach flu, so Kevin made sure to eat both of our moneys worth. I am grateful for his hearty appetite and non-judgmental attitude towards creatures of the deep.

4.We're still avid movie goers.
Kevin is the probably the biggest fan of going to the movies that I have ever met. While we were dating, he took me to see Barber Shop II. If that isn't proof than I don't know what is. After dinner on Friday, we went to the movie theatre that was in our hotel and saw Harry Potter. I thought it was really good.
And guess who I saw in the Burberry window while walking through the the mall.
None other than Miss Grainger herself. She is officially my new favorite {young} actress. I love how down to earth and naturally beautiful she is.

5. We are easily entertained.
Saturday we enjoyed sleeping in and ate lunch at In-N-Out. That afternoon we headed down to the strip and parked at the Venetian. We picked up our Blue Man Group tickets and ventured around the nearby hotels to see what we could see. Each hotel that we visited had it's own food court, casino and fancy pants mall. There's always something interesting going on...
like these white statue people who get paid to stand around all day,and this fancy garden area of the Venetian which made me wish it was raining...oh, and this friendly fella who made me feel like I was at Disneyland.

6. We find it hilariously entertaining that we can fit into each other's jeans.

While shopping, we decided to try and find some new jeans for Kevin at Pac-Sun. One bet led to another, and soon we were wearing each others jeans. Five years ago I would probably be bawling at the fact that my husband can wear my jeans, but I thought it was hilariously entertaining. Plus when times get tough, we can share.

7.We can conjure up silly arguments that stem from the purchase of a vanilla Frosty.
{and they claim that it's impossible to frown while eating a frosty}
Who likes vanilla Frostys??? Anyone??? They are the most boring thing ever in my book, no offense. And this is coming from an avid lover of vanilla cones. I swear it's the cardboard cup that just ruins it for me. So when we agreed to share a regular frosty from Wendy's, I was expecting delicious milk chocolate soft serve and that is not what Kevin got. Petty argument, I know, but don't get between a woman and her chocolate craving. It's a good thing I had some back up butterfingers in my purse. Practically saved our marriage.

8. We're still fans of blue men.

After a quick dinner and a dessert of Krispy Kremes, we headed off to see Blue Man Group. We saw it while on our honeymoon, but it was at The Luxor and the show had changed a little since then. It was really fun to see it again, and it was still very entertaining. Plus we didn't have to sit by anyone who felt the need to narrate the entire performance like last time. It made a world of difference. The lady directly behind me was chosen to go up for the Twinkies skit so that made it really fun.

9. We're still ooh-ing and ahh-ing while watching our wedding DVD. {at least I am}

Saturday night after the show, we watched our wedding DVD. As usual I oohed and ahhed and wondered why in the world we picked the songs we did. Watching it always gives me warm fuzzies all over again. I highly recommend it.

10. We're still in LOVE.5 years
1 move
2 kids
1 cat
and everything in between
and we still love each other very much:)

This Little Piggy

The girls seem to have gotten the hang of sharing, at least when it comes to food. When I offer one of them a snack, they always ask for a second ration for their favorite sister. Today was no different. So when I offered Brooke a bag of gushers, she insisted on one for her sissy who was in the nursery with Dad. I happily agreed, opened both packages, and sent her down the hallway. While the children were content, I took advantage of the time to do some much needed vacuuming.
I finished a few rooms, skipped the nursery {so not to scare the girls} and made my way to the master bathroom. As I turned the corner, I came upon a blue-mouthed creature laying belly down on the tile, empty yellow wrappers perched in each hand. As her eyes met mine, she quickly got up and offered me one of the empty rations. Her face immediately pleaded guilty as there was no going back at this point. While these events could have gotten ugly if both sisters were involved,
Brenna never found out, and she DID finally get her snack.

She even offered Brooke a few licks of gusher goo, fresh off her finger.

Thank goodness for a happy ending.

Wishing

Do you ever find yourself wishing you could relive a day in your life, a day when you were so happy that you felt like your cheeks could literally explode at any moment? This is that day for me. Tomorrow we will be attempting just that; reliving some of the best {early} days of our lives, and specifically the day {exactly 5 years ago} that changed everything for the better. From our sealing in the Mesa Temple to our honeymoon in Las Vegas, we've got a plan to re-visit {as best we can} the very beginning of "us."

Wish us luck:)

All In A Day's Work

Two happy employees, arriving by way of monorail.
Equipped with smiles,
they are ready to dive right into their work.

Not only are they schooled in the art of basic dendrology,
but are experienced enough to test drive a car while tending to the boss's kid. Both are heavily trained in the technicalities of vehicular retrieval,{or retrievals} using ancient chinese, chopstick-like movements.
Unfortunately, this procedure has not been tested on mammoth sized binkies.
Both attempts resulted in... amazing success.
There is evidence of gentle workplace motivation, and proper procedure protocol when an "on the clock fall" was made better without the need for worker's comp.Lastly, some healthy socialization amidst the water cooler, and they called it a day.

Observed and signed by a very proud F.I.O.S. {fancy inspector of sorts},
