Grammy Shirley's Birthday

Friday was my MIL Shirley's birthday. We went to Joe's BBQ for dinner Friday night (they give you a free dinner on your b-day!) and it was really good as usual. Tonight we had a family dinner for her and the theme was Mexican. FYI- Velveeta + Rotel diced tomatoes and green chiles= delicious queso! I'm so grateful to have such a wonderful MIL. I must say that I got very lucky in that department. Shirley is such a loving and caring person and is always looking for ways to serve everyone around her. Happy Birthday Shirley,we love you!

The question on my mind.....

Ever since we found out we were expecting twins I have thought for sure that they would be fraternal, so did my OB. They had separate sacs and placentas, and there have been a few fraternal twins in my family so I figured it was hereditary, thus they must be fraternal. The last week or so poor Kevin has had a hard time telling them apart and he's not alone. So many people have been telling me that they look more alike then they have before which seems weird to me if they are fraternal. After much Internet research and burnt pancakes in the process, I found that our girls have a 35% chance of being identical twins, even though they didn't share anything in the womb. I spent all day yesterday attempting to find out their blood types to see if they are the same (another tip that they could be identical). Unfortunately after making several phone calls and taking a trip down to the hospital's record department, I am still none the wiser. So the question is do we spend $160 on a DNA test (just a swab of the insides of their mouths) or do I continue to let this simmer in the back of my brain? It's not like it's going to change things if they are in fact identical, but it would tell us for sure how the girls were conceived (2 eggs or 1 egg that split), and whether our 2 for 1 deal was hereditary or one of mother nature's magic tricks:)

Lunch at Joe's Farm Grill

Lucky us! The girls and I have gone out for lunch twice this week which is a new record. Yesterday we delighted our tastebuds at Sweet Cakes Cafe, an adorable sandwich shop in downtown Mesa. I used to love going there in highschool as it was right across the street. Today we enjoyed a delicious meal at Joe's Farm Grill in Gilbert. One of our friends had heard about it on the Food Network and so we decided to go check it out. The food was SUPER-DELISH and the atmosphere was fun. I would highly recommend it!

Brenna was a fan of the pickle.

Brooke fancied the french fries.

Swimming at Grammy's

Brenna and Brooke are definitely water babies. They LOVE being in the water so it's fun to take them swimming. This week we went swimming at Grammy Shirley's and we had a great time:)

I just LOVE their swimsuits, if only they came in my size!

Short n' Sassy!

I got my hair done on Wednesday and the hairstylist took off a little more than I asked. It's short, but I think I kind of like it:) Kevin calls it short and sassy and seems to be ok with the new-do. I think this is the shortest I've ever had it and for now I will enjoy it:)
