Some wonderful advice...

I was reading in this month's Ensign and there was an article called "Living a Balanced Life" by Elder Orton. The last couple months I have been struggling with this in my own life, trying to figure out how to balance being a mom/wife, keeping the house clean, fulfilling my church calling, and just taking time for myself every now and then. Is this really possible? When I saw this article, I felt like it was an answer to my prayers. I just wanted to share a part of it that made a lot of sense to me.

" As I've flown, I've noted as we commence to take off from the airport, a flight attendant will arise and among other things will say, "Now, if we lose air pressure in the cabin, an oxygen mask will descend from overhead. If you're caring for young children or someone with a disability, make sure you put on your own oxygen mask before you try to help others." Why would the flight attendant say that? Obviously, if you're unconscious, you can't help anyone else. So it is with our service to humankind and our service in the Church and in our professions. If we don't strengthen ourselves, we will never be in a position to strengthen others."

How easy is it to put yourself as the last priority on the list? Very easy, I would say. I think it's so true that in order to take care of others we have to first take care of ourselves. So do yourself a favor and do something nice for you:)

Golly me, I'm 23!

I turned the big two-three this month. I had a wonderful birthday filled with scavenger hunts and fresh bananna cream cheesecake! Who could ask for anything more?

Hoppy Easter!

Yes, I know it's a tad early to be breaking out the bunny gear, but I couldn't resist! I saw these bunny ears at Target and had to get them for the girls. Way too cute! Brenna has the white ears and Brooke has the pink...

Surprise Party for Mom's 50th

My mom turned the big five-0 this month, so we decided to throw her a surprise party with all her friends and family. We all tried really hard to keep it a secret from my mom for the last 3 weeks. Luckily she didn't have a clue when the time finally came for the party and everything went very well . We had a 50's theme for the party. All the girls wore poodle skirts (even Brenna and Brooke!)that were hand made by my sister Tina and her friend Lisa (way to go ladies, very impressive). We played a trivia game that was all about my mom and her life, we had a hula hoop contest, and lots of good food. It was really fun!
