Date & Weight {A Guessing Game}

So I thought it might be fun to have people guess the birth date and weight of our soon to arrive baby boy. We did this at my baby shower for the twins, and amazingly enough my MIL and Mom were pretty much right on. Crazy how that happens!

(the belly at 38 weeks)

So here's some info for those who prefer a little background before they guess:

My twins were born at 37 weeks 5 days gestation (I was not in labor).

Brenna- 6 pounds
Brooke- 6 pounds 11 oz.

My "guess date" with this baby is September 8th.

At my last midwife appointment on Monday, they guessed by feeling him that he was already about 6.5-7 pounds.
Ok, so take your guess, and feel free to throw in that you think he will look just like his momma, because I would love that:) Oh, and I've already decided that September 5th is just not going to happen, since that's the twin's birthday.

Preschool Rocks!

Thursday was Brenna and Brooke's first day of Preschool!

They have been looking forward to going to preschool since April, which was when we first visited the school. They quickly learned the phrase "I'm going to Preschool in August!!!," and would tell everybody they knew. We bought them backpacks, and talked about all the fun they were going to have. Finally, August came!

Thursday morning we got them dressed, strapped on their backpacks, and they were ready. I think they were a little nervous, but to be honest I was too.

When I dropped them off, Teacher Laura came to get them and walk them to the backyard. I admit I felt a little sad watching them walk away, but then I remembered that my MIL and I were going to go shopping that morning....and um without kids in tow. Suddenly I felt much better.

After some fun kid-free shopping, it was time to pick up the girls. They both looked very happy and the teachers said they did great.

Hooray for Preschool!

and

Hooray for free time for Mom!

Six Years

Saturday, August 7th was our 6th Wedding Anniversary!

It's amazing to think of all that has happened since our wedding day.

Being so heavy with child, I knew we wouldn't be going anywhere too far this year. At least not out of state like we did last year. At the last minute, we decided to join my side of the family on a boat trip to Lake Roosevelt. We woke up at 430am (crazy...yes) and headed off to the lake with two boats in tow. This was the girl's first experience on a boat, and while they were skeptical at first, they grew to enjoy it. They played on the boat, and swam in the water with their life jackets and inner tubes to keep them afloat.
I really enjoyed being on the lake. My only issue was needing to pee every hour, but that's what lakes are good for you know. I swam around a lot, and hung out in the boat while watching others wake board. It was a pretty relaxing trip for me, although my hair might tell a different story.Kevin did a good job of tending to the kids in the water, and attempted to wake board for the first time. The water was really choppy which makes it hard to wake board to begin with, but he was a good sport about it anyways.

We had a fun time, and I'm really glad we went. After we had eaten lunch, we headed home. The girls and I zonked in the car while Kevin attempted to stay awake long enough to drive us home.

We made it home safe and sound, and after showering and getting all gussied up, we dropped the girls off at Kevin's Mom's house. Next stop was Cafe Rio for dinner. I can never get enough of their pork salad. It is really really good!

Once we were sufficiently stuffed, we headed over to the IMAX at Arizona Mills to see the movie Inception. Kevin had already seen it once before and really liked it. I had never been to an IMAX theatre before, so it was cool watching the movie on the ginormous screen.

The movie left me a little confused at the end, but it was very entertaining, and kept my attention the entire time. Overall it was a great day, and I was so happy to spend it with my sweetie.

Cankles Ahoy! {How To Tuesday}

How to get rid of swollen calves/ankles, aka cankles:

Step 1: Locate a plastic wrapped frozen item in the freezer. Preferably something you don't plan on consuming. For example: nasty sugar-free popsicles.

Step 2: Sneak two long socks from your husband's sock drawer.

Step 3
: Tie the frozen items to your cankled area and elevate your feet.

Step 4
: Once the swelling has subsided, discard the melted items, and sneak the socks back into your husband's sock drawer.

Bravo.
